History of Passages

The first issue of the DRLPS newsletter was in 1998, the year the Society was established, to offer news and views to DRLPS members and other public, political, educational, and lighthouse entities, covering a wide variety of material associated with the DeTour Reef Light and the Society, including national lighthouse topics. It also serves as a means to document the history of the DRLPS.

Our newsletter title Passages was chosen in 1998 by the first editor, Jeri-Baron Feltner, as she wanted to use a name associated with DeTour Passage, which is what the area is called near the entrance to the St. Mary’s River where the lighthouse is located.
