About Our Website
The DeTour Reef Light Preservation Society launched a website not long after its inception in 1998. For several years, Sheryl LaMotte was the DRLPS webmaster.
In 2005, Matt and Sheila Sawyer were two of the first lightkeepers when DRLPS launched its keeper program. Having thoroughly enjoyed their experience, they wanted to get more involved with the Society. Unfortunately, they live in southeast Michigan--not exactly a close distance to help out with the lighthouse.
Matt, a Microsoft SharePoint consultant for Hewlett-Packard, thought that one way to help out from afar was to help out with the website. Since Sheryl was considering stepping down as webmaster, Matt officially took over the role of webmaster in the summer of 2006. The following year, his wife Sheila took over as the Passages editor when Candis Collick stepped down from that role.
Desiring to replace its aging website, DRLPS decided to build its new site from scratch. On March 31, 2008, DRLPS launched the current design of the website.
Our website is hosted on Windows Server 2008 SP-1 running IIS 7.0 and the Microsoft .NET Framework version 3.5.
